SAD... seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is a recognised type of depression that comes and goes with the seasons. And even though some of us may be fortunate enough not to have the full blown condition, we may still be suffering mild effects.

It’s all down to our reduced exposure to light this time of year and the effects this has on the hormones serotonin and melatonin associated with mood and sleep (and even cravings and immunity). So what to do? If it’s serious then go to the doctor but if you just want to lift your mood (especially the Sunday night blues) then be sure to get outside - even a dull grey day outdoors gives you more light hits than the most brightly lit office or room. 🍂 In the run to World Mental Health Day I’ll be sharing some self help tips to give your a taste of what’s coming up in our Mind Masterclass next Saturday.
